Welcome! This site is FREE and is devoted
to the blessing of God's people.
The tool available here is intended to aid in learning to read the original Greek
text of the New Testament by reading various Bible passages. The
tool replaces the English words in the biblical text with the Greek words as they
are learned so
that as you master words in one passage they will appear in
Greek in other passages you are learning. In this way, you can build a Greek vocabulary
at your own pace and
learn some great passages of scripture at the same time.
Take a look at the short
tutorial
now for a description of the basic mechanics behind the concept. Then
try it out
on the first few verses of
John's Gospel.
If you decide you want to return and
have the tool remember
your learned words each time, you'll need to establish a user name and password by clicking on the Register link to the right. Again, there
is no cost.
About the English and Greek text used:
The English text used is the King James version. This version
was chosen for several reasons: 1) It is free of copyright protection; 2) It has
very large readership; 3) Though some of its language is not in common usage anymore,
it is still quite understandable, and outdated words and expressions can be easily
clarified with any number of freely available dictionaries and commentaries; and
4) There is a wealth of freely available supporting resources like Strong's concordance.
The Greek text used is Textus Receptus or Received Text which was used by the translators
of the King James Bible, first published in 1611.
